THOUGHTS: I thought this was an informative and practical addition to work started in therapeutic counseling. The workbook contains step-by-step instructions for you to follow. And, though you can skip through the sections, the author says up front that you’ll get more out of the book if you go through it in a linear way.

The author explains that Somatic therapy takes the entire body into focus, including the brain and nervous system. This kind of practice gives you the ability to notice and interpret sensations throughout the body. She also stresses that you should see a physician first for a check up and to continue with your therapist.
