Welcome to Sparkling Book Reviews!
This is the place to find books you might enjoy. There are all sorts of genres here – fiction and non-fiction alike. If you look at the tabs, you’ll see where to go for specific ones. Please note, that only the YA level tab is for those books suitable for children through young adults. All other genres may include stories that are not appropriate for the under 18 crowd. There is nothing in these pages that they can’t read – I am very careful about things like that. But the books themselves may not be appropriate. So when I recommend a book, take into consideration whether you’re in the YA or other genres. In addition, some genres–especially romance–run from very mild to extremely hot. I will note the heat level where I can so you can choose appropriately.
Our reviews are posted not only here, but on Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Bookbub, Google Books and more.
Our genres:
Romance: This is for all things romance, from the very sweet to the very steamy, but it’s all about the relationship.
Adult Fiction: This is for books that don’t fit any of the other categories. Some call them “Literary Fiction”, others “Women’s Fiction”, or any of a number of other names. Or they may be a book that fits multiple genres.
YA: Books appropriate for those under the age of 18. Mostly from grades three to twelve. There may be a mix here until I get enough to break out middle grade and true YA.
Mystery: Everything from cozies to thrillers.
LGBTQ+/Adult: gay/lesbian/etc. stories for adults (tend to be more graphic); over 18 only.
LGBTQ+/YA: gay/lesbian/etc. stories for young adults with age appropriate language and situations
Non-fiction: that pretty much says it all. If it’s real, it’s here.
Other genres will be added as needed.

WHAT OUR SPARKLERS MEAN:
1 Sparkler – We currently do not review any story with a 1 star rating. If we can’t finish it, we won’t review it.
2 Sparklers — Not wonderful, but tolerable. There may be some minor editing glitches but not enough to stop me reading. Not trash, but nothing I’d re-read. If I recommended it, I’d send them to the library, not the “buy me” button.
3 Sparklers — Okay. Mostly enjoyable. I made it through and didn’t consider it a waste of time or money. The story was strong enough or the conflict tight enough, so even when the book faltered, it was able to draw me back in . There’s a chance I’ll recommend it to a friend, but it wouldn’t go on my keeper shelf.
4 Sparklers — Very Good. I’m glad I was the one who got to review the book. I would probably buy it and would definitely recommend it to my friends. I liked the characters and the plot. The writing style was good and the editing clean.
5 Sparklers — Wow! I would definitely buy this book. I would definitely recommend it to my friends. I really loved the characters and the plot and would look for other books by this author. Definitely a keeper.
WHAT OUR HEAT LEVELS MEAN:
SWEET: no visual love scenes and no descriptive kissing. Basically a “G” rating
SENSUAL: Contains a high degree of sexual tension, steamy kisses and passionate clinches, but all fully consummated love scenes will be implied, not described, and with the bedroom door firmly closed.
SPICY: Contains actual love scenes and may include detailed descriptions of foreplay and consummation.
HOT: Contains sizzling and very detailed love scenes throughout and graphic, explicit content which may be offensive to some.
